The Board of MCC Newcastle
The Board of MCC Newcastle is responsible for creating and amending the church constitution, writing church policies, keeping financial records, setting a church budget, risk management and overseeing paid staff. The Board also has a visionary role, setting in motion the processes involved in furthering the work of MCC Newcastle in the future. Members of the Board are elected by the congregation in an ACM (Annual Congregational Meeting) which takes place in April each year and hold three year terms. The Pastor and Lay Delegate also serve on the Board.

My job on the Board is to take part in regular meetings with other Board members, and to undertake leadership duties as and when required on behalf of the Board in liaison with the Pastor. I've undertaken a range of duties, from acting as Chair, to seeing to different aspects of administration in the church, and liaising on behalf of MCC with external bodies and organizations.

I first attended MCC Newcastle in early 2008. At this point I was not looking to change church- I was then church secretary at my old church - but I was looking for somewhere I could be myself. However, Someone had other plans! By the Spring of 2008 I was a regular attendee. I started CLM in Autumn that year and became an official member at Easter 2009.
In April 2010 I stood for the Board and was voted in by the congregation at the ACM. In the spiel for the AGM I 'let the cat out of the bag,' revealing that I had been involved in managing the finances for a £500,000 new build at my old church - in September 2010 I was made treasurer!
This is a generous congregation and through your giving we are able to employ three part-time staff. It is great to see things developping and the two newest posts really coming into their own.

I have been attending MCC Newcastle since 1996 and over that time I have been variously involved in leading house groups and Taize services, helping to co-ordinate music and contributing regularly to the leading of Sunday services. In the dim and distant past I also spent a short period of time on the board as treasurer! I am really happy to be able to continue to serve this wonderful community by being on the board.
