                                            Rev. Cecilia Eggleston

Hello there. I'm Cecilia and I'm the Pastor of MCC Newcastle. What does that mean? In Metropolitan Community Churches, we believe that everyone has a ministry; calling is not reserved for a special few. As pastor, my role is to help people with their own faith journey - their joys, their doubts, their questions. If a person feels ready, I also help them to find the right place for them in the life of our church - for example welcoming people or being involved in music, helping with the social action and justice work or becoming part of the prayer minstry. Everyone has a unique faith journey and a special call - God made us all different.

Another part of my role is to see the bigger picture and keep us focussed on what God is calling us to be and to do in serving our community. I have an overview of all the different ministries and activities of the church, making sure that we are using our gifts and resources as well as possible. I chair our elected
Board of Directors and have overall responsibility for our ministries and worship - although, as you will discover, many different people lead our ministry areas and take responsibility for offering an excellent worship experience.

I am honoured and excited to serve this vibrant congregation. I look forward to meeting you!

                                            Congregational Care Co-ordinator.

I took up post in September 2010, having retired early from public service after a career spanning  30 years. I have spent much of my professional life engaged in support/counselling for a broad range of vulnerable people. Frequently, the people I worked with were entirely excluded from society, isolated and without any sense of self worth. I have a lot of experience in managing, developing and coordinating both paid and voluntary teams and I would hope that people find me to be warm and approachable.  Having gained so much from my own involvement in MCC Newcastle, I see this role as an opportunity to contribute to the work of the church and its development in future.

As CCC, I am responsible for ensuring that the congregation of MCC Newcastle are offered a variety of appropriate ministries to enhance the overall quality of experience of pastoral care, from the first welcome in church, to identifying and providing support for individual pastoral needs as appropriate, and helping to facilitate a range of social activities over the year.
