Creating A Life That Matters.
Creating a Life that Matters (CLM) is a year long course, made up of 3 six week modules. It is an opportunity to go deeper with a small group of people, to learn more about ourselves, our God and how we can live out our lives in a way that matches our faith and our calling.
Seven people completed the course last year. It was stimulating, challenging and encouraging. Everyone learned something and, for some, it was a life changing experience!
The three modules are:
The Sacred
While many would agree that relationship with the Sacred is the fundamental beginning of all faith paths, this transforming experience is often lost when we exchange our spiritual vitality for empty religious practices. In the six sessions of Rediscovering Relationship with the Sacred, we explore what it means to be transformed by an encounter with the Sacred, and rediscover loving God with heart, soul and mind.
My Self
We expend time, effort and money seeking to understand who we are. In Rediscovering Relationship with My Self, we explore some of the influences that have shaped us, and investigate ways to create a self we will want to live with, others will want to relate to, and God will be able to use in the service of all that is Sacred.
My Passion
Our passions make us most aware of our personal power, energy and joy. Many internal and external factors influence how successfully we manifest these passions in our lives. In the six sessions of Rediscovering Relationship with My Passion, we explore ways to manage those factors, and discover what gives us power, energy and joy as we serve the Sacred through church.
MCC Newcastle will be running Creating a Life that Matters again in Autumn 2011 . Please contact us if you would like to join the group!
An Insider's View of CLM.
My initial reaction regarding being asked if I would like to do the course, round about this time last year was, "NO WAY‘. I asked Cecilia to give me more details of what I would be letting myself in for and she spent some time with me going over the 3 modules of the course. This made me even more reticent about doing the course but I agreed to give it a go on the understanding that I may not see the course through to the end. However, it was presented in an extremely interesting and non-threatening way and everyone felt comfortable with what we worked through. It mattered not your degree of spirituality or what your religious background was. What was said was done so in confidence and everyone‘s opinion was valued. The fellowship between each of the course members was really important and I really looked forward to our weekly meetings.
The course leaders were excellent and they put a great deal of effort into presenting the materials and guiding our passage through them in a step by step, precise way. They explained points that we did not understand and brought different perspectives to discussions as did all of the course members. Part of the beauty of the course was to listen to the views and opinions of others. There was a great deal of mutual support between members and leaders alike.
I would recommend the course to anyone. I think you would enjoy it a lot!
